Recipient shall be a full-time undergraduate student seeking a degree in Education.

Isabelle L. Confer Liehe was born on Dec. 26, 1910 near Lena, IL. She earned a one year teaching certificate and taught in rural South Dakota schools between 1930 and 1933. She moved to Whiting, IN with her husband in 1937. In 1960, Isabelle began her employment with the Hammond Library. She attended Indiana University Northwest to become state accredited in Library Science. She worked for 15 years at the Hammond Public Library until retiring in 1975. She remained at home with her husband until her death on Jan. 16, 1993.
